When the Map Isn’t Clear: Trusting God in Career and Life

When the Map Isn’t Clear: Trusting God in Career and Life

Last week, I had the chance to attend Code for America  and honestly, it was surreal.

Sitting in rooms full of people building the future of government and civic tech, I found myself reflecting on how far I’ve come and how uncertain the journey still feels.

If you’ve ever struggled to figure out your place in the job market, I see you.

If you’ve ever been underpaid, overlooked, or undervalued, I get it.

If you’ve ever tried to thrive under poor leadership or in toxic work environments, you’re not alone.

I’ve been there too.

There were seasons when I questioned everything from my skills, my value, my path. There were moments where resilience didn’t feel like a badge of honor, but a heavy weight I was tired of carrying. Yet through it all, I kept showing up. I kept working with excellence, leading with integrity, and building something I could be proud of, even when no one was watching.

But here’s what’s shifted for me:

I’ve learned to set better boundaries.

I’ve learned to lean into my faith instead of fear.

I’ve learned that trusting God doesn’t require me to have all the answers, just enough courage to take the next right step.

Code for America was more than just a conference for me; it was a reminder. A reminder that growth isn’t always about arriving at a destination. Sometimes, it’s about becoming someone new along the way.

No, I haven’t figured it all out yet. I still don’t know exactly where this road leads.

But I’m committed to enjoying the adventure, embracing the growth, and trusting that the Author of my story knows what He’s doing.

So if you’re in a season of almost ….still figuring, still healing, still hoping, take heart. You don’t have to be fully there to be fully worthy.

We’re still becoming. And there’s beauty in that.

Let’s reflect together:

✨ Where in your life are you learning to trust the journey?

✨ What lessons are you carrying forward from the hard seasons?

✨ How are you giving yourself permission to grow at your own pace?
